During his career with the Muskego Police Department, Chief Rens has worn many hats. He served as a patrol officer until 2001, when he was promoted to Sergeant. Chief Rens was subsequently promoted to Staff Sergeant in 2003 and Lieutenant in 2007, while supervising all different patrol shifts and overseeing the implementation of several innovations and upgrades to the department’s operating systems. He also served as the SWAT Team Commander. In 2013, Chief Rens was promoted to Captain, first overseeing Operations and then Services. Chief Rens is a 2003 graduate of the Southern Police Institute’s Command Officer’s Development Course.
Chief Rens has many ideas for making the department an even bigger part of the community than it already is, and he is looking forward to working with community leaders to achieve that goal. He is also very excited and humbled to have the opportunity to lead the dedicated men and women of the Muskego Police Department as they continue to keep Muskego one of the safest communities in Wisconsin.
