[ARCHIVED] State Highway 36 Construction

Just a couple reminders/pointers to keep both the work crew and citizens safe:

• The speed limit in the construction zone has been reduced to 45 MPH. And as we all know, fines in construction zones are double. Our department will be doing speed enforcement, so be sure to slow down.

• Many people use STH 36 for recreation, either riding bikes or running along the road. There is a beautiful recreation trail that runs along STH 36 in Muskego. We strongly urge bicyclists and runners to utilize this path and stay clear of the construction zones. Workers don’t expect to see anyone inside their construction work area, and running or riding in there could put yourself at risk. In addition, much of the project is or will be down to one lane in both directions. Drivers will have enough to concentrate on without having to be on the lookout for pedestrians or bikes on the roadway or shoulder. If you do these activities where there are no recreation trails I would ask that you find someplace else to get your exercise.

Let’s follow these simple rules and have a safe summer. Thanks.
