An officer from the police department met with the owner of the establishment, who confirmed that he was operating a progressive raffle/lottery type game.
After conferring with the Wisconsin Department of Administration, who also received an anonymous complaint regarding the raffle, and the Wisconsin Department of Justice, it was determined that the establishment did not have the proper state licensing and did not, in fact, even qualify for a license.
The owner of Marx Pioneer Inn voluntarily shut the game down, and the monies taken in for the raffle, totaling $46, 266.00, was seized by the Muskego Police Department. The matter will be referred to the Waukesha County District Attorney’s Office for review.
