Communities that participate in the Tree City USA program demonstrate a commitment to caring for and managing their public trees. The National Arbor Day Foundation has recognized Muskego as a Tree City USA since 1999.
To qualify for this recognition, Muskego meets four established standards for its tree management, including:
- Tree board or department
- Tree care ordinance
- Community forestry program with an annual budget of at least $2 per capita
- Arbor Day observance and proclamation
Each year the significance of trees is celebrated on Arbor Day - the last Friday in April. Citizens are encouraged to reflect on the value and importance of trees anytime, but particularly on Arbor Day! | |
