Department Responsibilities


Administration

  • Provide for the public good by increasing transparency through access to new technologies and information
  • Strategic business systems planning & analysis
  • Compliance with electronic records retention & storage requirements
  • Development and implementation of citywide IT policies, procedures, and standards

Network Operations

  • Local and wide area network connectivity between all city facilities and external business partners
  • Servers & interconnected networking devices
  • Enterprise application & database support including email, document management, financial, and public safety CAD & RMS systems
  • Desktop, laptop, and mobile computing environment

Application Development

  • Development of custom desktop and web based application solutions designed to better meet the business needs of city departments while reducing escalating software support expenses
  • Development of Internet & Intranet services to city employees and the public

Geographic Information Systems

  • Development of interactive mapping applications designed to serve as a visual framework for conceptualizing, understanding, and making better more informed decisions relating to city business
  • Standard and custom hardcopy mapping services
  • Digital geographic data development, maintenance, and analysis services

Telecommunications

  • Cellular voice and data communications
  • Public safety 911 & radio operations
  • Analog and VoIP telephony
