Department Responsibilities
Administration
- Provide for the public good by increasing transparency through access to new technologies and information
- Strategic business systems planning & analysis
- Compliance with electronic records retention & storage requirements
- Development and implementation of citywide IT policies, procedures, and standards
Network Operations
- Local and wide area network connectivity between all city facilities and external business partners
- Servers & interconnected networking devices
- Enterprise application & database support including email, document management, financial, and public safety CAD & RMS systems
- Desktop, laptop, and mobile computing environment
Application Development
- Development of custom desktop and web based application solutions designed to better meet the business needs of city departments while reducing escalating software support expenses
- Development of Internet & Intranet services to city employees and the public
Geographic Information Systems
- Development of interactive mapping applications designed to serve as a visual framework for conceptualizing, understanding, and making better more informed decisions relating to city business
- Standard and custom hardcopy mapping services
- Digital geographic data development, maintenance, and analysis services
Telecommunications
- Cellular voice and data communications
- Public safety 911 & radio operations
- Analog and VoIP telephony
